Reclaim our streets - the new WATNEXT campaign

The Watlington Christmas Fair was the perfect occasion to let the visitors know exactly what we will be doing in 2015 in respect of promoting various aspects of our campaign. Over a hundred signatures supporting our policies were recorded. There can be no doubt that the residents of Watlington are keen to voice their opinions and are happy for WATNEXT to take these forward

WATNEXT welcomes K for Kitchen....

You can't miss one of the newest shops on the corner of Couching Street and the High Street with its range of fascinating kitchen and culinary accessories

Amanda Hinton has brought a much needed speciality shop to the town centre and attracted customers from a wide area but she is aware of the hazards of HGV's and passing traffic and supports the work of WATNEXT in addressing this concern

 

Visit the Fox and Hounds ....

Following a revamp, the Fox and Hounds at Christmas Common has re-opened and Jude Bishop has taken over with all her local contacts and experience and she welcomes everyone to call in and see how the number one pub outside the town is looking after their customers


Helicopter in town......

Instead of looking to the skies, residents were somewhat surprised to see a military helicopter en route to RAF Benson passing through Watlington today. Drivers were left frustrated - who would have thought that the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Air Force would allow a low loader of this to pass through our town? 

Mail on Sunday feature speeding in Watlington ...

Watlington made the Sunday papers today with an article about speeding motorists - WATNEXT favour traffic enforcement targeted at errant HGV vehicles who ignore our weight restriction but welcome onservation of the 30 mph limit in the town centre and the 40 and 50 mph limits on our approach roads. Key event hosted by Oxfordshire County Council

OCC are hosting "Connectiing Oxfordshire" at Henley Town Hall on Wednesday July 16th from 7pm to 8.30pm to outline the objectives and policies in the next Oxfordshire Local Transport Plan - LTP4 - we wish to ensure that WATLINGTON's traffic and HGV problems are not overlooked

350 years on ....

Our Town Hall was built through the generosity of Thomas Stonor and the family dynasty was represented on Friday by Lord Camoys of Stonor Park at a reception hosted by the Town Hall Trust where he was presented with a commemorative key

Traffic chaos in Watlington ...

Residents and motorists are seething after the latest incident today where a double container lorry bound for the premises of H & H Distribution currently operating from Lys Mill (in addition to their licensed site on the Cuxham Road) , suffered an explosive rear tyre blow out. Over two hours of jams occurred highlighting the problems faced  by HGV movements which are now acute
